A simple walk on the beach with his family changed Romain’s life. At 11, he was transfixed by the colorful kites and the impressive tricks he witnessed that day. After some nagging to his parents, they finally signed him up to a kitesurfing school. He has never looked back ever since.

He started competing at 13 and continued pushing himself to eventually become a two-time freestyle world junior champion a few years later. Addicted to the thrills and spills the sport brings him, Romain has a hard time staying away from the water for too long.

STAY FOOLISH.

Romain Interview

Can you tell us a bit more about your passion for kitesurfing?

It is the only sport that makes me feel so many thrills, adrenaline and freedom.

You just won the lottery, what would you do first?

I’d build a house only for myself and my buddies in front of a great kite spot!

Next destination?

I’m planning on going to Tarifa and Morocco.

Romain Interview

What’s the most amazing thing you’ve experienced?

I've been lucky enough to experience a lot of amazing moments through travels and sports, so it's pretty hard to choose one. But I do think it was a surfing session in Mauritius on the Ambulante spot. I didn't catch any wave by the way, but what a show!

What are you doing during a day without wind?

I work out and if there are waves, I surf! I'm also in business school so that takes up a little bit of my time. Recently, I started paragliding, so I fly from time to time.
