Matilda
Roux
With Leucate as her homespot, Matilda Roux could only develop a strong addiction to the wind. Specializing in freestyle and Big Air kiteboarding, she's practically grown up on the water, just like her whole wind-loving family, which often plans vacations around the conditions.
Matilda already has multiple French national titles and podium finishes at the Freestyle World Junior Championships under her belt, but she's not stopping there; she's all about pushing her limits, especially in Big Air. Traveling the world for various competitions, she's living her dream and aiming to make her mark as a pro kiteboarder.

Matilda Interview
Can you tell us a bit more about your passion for kiteboarding?
It’s become so much more than a passion. It’s a way of life, it totally guides my every day. I put kiting first. Since doing my first jumps and going on my first trips, it has become an addiction that is impossible to stop. I always want more: I want to learn more tricks, kite longer, travel everywhere, discover different cultures, and live my life with no desire to sleep but just to ride. I also discovered that this passion made my life a healthy and simple one; I just need my favorite gear from F-ONE and MANERA, and the wind.
You just won the lottery, what do you do first?
I travel around the world and go to every possible spot, whether it’s to kitesurf, to surf, to ski, etc… And of course, with boardbags filled with gear and cameras!
Favorite expression?
Never give up and work hard to get what you want.
Matilda Interview
What’s the most amazing thing you’ve experienced?
I was on the beach in Paros in Greece, doing a van trip with my family. I was just riding, minding my own business, when a helicopter landed next to our van. Then, a few very imposing and armed bodyguards came out, and asked everyone to get out of the water and to make some space. And then, the rapper Eminem came out of the helicopter and went kitesurfing for 20 minutes before leaving again. Basically, I was kicked out of the water so Eminem could ride. It was pretty surreal and amazing.
What do you do with your day when there are no conditions?
I go to class and I workout. Otherwise if I’m abroad, I visit the surrounding area.
