Ismail is a powerful guy that has the ability to stay fluid & precise in his moves; his style shows just how much he enjoys being out there on the water. He built a surf-inspired kiteboarding style and feels at home anywhere, whether it's small onshore conditions or in a big Ponta Preta swell.

He is also a kitesurf and surf instructor, and is now the director of his own school near his home spot of Essaouira.

Can you tell us a bit more about your passion for kitesurfing?

Kitesurfing has changed many things in my life. Everyday, I wake up and I check the weather first thing. Whether I'm sad or happy, I always got kitesurfing to express myself. I don't know how to explain this feeling.

You just won the lottery, what would you do first?

I invest 70% in a project, and then I kite and surf for the rest of my life.

What’s the most amazing thing you’ve experienced?

Becoming a dad... Everyday is different, and it's the most beautiful thing to have happened to me.

What are you doing during a day without wind?

I go surfing, foiling, SUP-ing... When you are addicted to the ocean, there is always a lot to do and basically never a day off. Everyday you go out, you are going to have a blast.
